Michael D. Hayes
Michael D. Hayes, 43, died Saturday (Nov. 10, 2001) at
Mercy Hospital in Moundridge.
He was born Aug. 2, 1958, to Noel V. and Judy (Little) Hayes in Newton.
They preceded him in death. He married Rosanne Kay Klassen Oct. 26,
1978, in Elbing. She survives.
He was raised in Newton and graduated with the Newton High School Class of
1976. He was employed by Hay and Forage in Hesston as the weld shop
crew chief. He worked there for 22 years. He was a member of
the HFI Union. He attended Meridian Baptist Church in Newton.
He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, classic cars and
Harley's.
Other survivors include: a son, Jeremiah A. Hayes of Moundridge; a
daughter, Amanda K. Hayes of Moundridge; a brother, Ronnie Hayes of Huber
heights, Ohio; five sisters, Patricia Walters of Fort Worth, Texas, Sylvia
Wood of Texarkana, Texas, Peggy Sherrick of Newton and Judy VanRossun and
Lynda Burse, both of Wichita; a mother and father-in-law, Jim and Rose
Bolen of Wichita; and a stepmother, Madeline Hayes of Halstead.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday
with family greeting friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and from 9 a.m. to
11 a.m. Wednesday, all at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton.
Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Meridian Baptist Church
with the Revs. Jerroll Martens and Scott Kliewer officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with the Hayes Children Education Fund
in care of the funeral home.
