Tim Polley

Shortly after graduation, I hopped a plane for South Carolina and Basic Training for the Kansas Army Guard.  I returned that fall, and went into the working sector.  After 7 years of playing in the mud, I gave a heave-ho to the Army Guard.  I have stayed in Newton and worked locally.  In 1985 I met my wife, Cathy (NHS 74), and were married in 1987.

After a lot of unsuccessful attempts to start a family, we decided to adopt.  Domestic adoption was very long and usually required you to become a foster parent first.  We decided to look into international adoption.

On November 31, 1998 we found ourselves headed to Moscow, Russia.  After a short nap, we hopped another plane to southern Siberia.  We landed in a town called Kemerovo, which is just north or where the China/Mongolia border on the west.

On December 13, 1998, we arrived back home with our 3 year old boy.  He is full of energy and keeps Cathy very busy.

I returned to the military (Kansas Air Guard) in February of 1990, and 1 year to the day I got ordered to active duty for Operation Desert Storm.  Luckily, I was kept stateside as the war was starting to end.  I went to work full time for the Guard in 1997, and enjoy it very much.  I will stay here until retirement which will be around the age of 56 or 58.

Hope all is well for everyone, and will see you on Labor day weekend.
